Belt COLORS and Materials
The first Hiker's Camera Belt was made from black, two-inch woven nylon webbing. I proudly showed my prototype to a friend of the female persuasion and was immediately asked "Nice! What other colors does it come in?" The search for color was on....
The Hiker's Camera Belt is now available in five colors! Mix and match for the look you want using my unique order form (below). No matter what colors you select, you'll be getting instant access to your camera or binoculars, with the security and comfort you need and want while walking. My colored Hiker's Camera Belts are built with the sharpest-looking, best-feeling, highest-quality colored webbing I could find. They are made from polypropylene. Poly is not quite as strong as nylon, but it actually dries faster (great for sweat and water sports), and has less "stretch" when wet. Poly also resists sun damage better and feels a bit "softer" than nylon. (My black "No-Slip" belts (see next section) with woven rubber traction strips, are also from polypropylene.)
Regardless of color, all Hiker's Camera Belts are sewn with super-strong, hiqh-quality bonded thread, and have the same high-quality fasteners and tri-glides.
You can't go wrong with either basic black nylon or one of these great poly colors. And of course every Hiker's Camera Belt comes with my satisfaction guarantee and quality warranty, so adding a touch of fashion with color is truly risk-free.
No-Slip belts - Gravity-defying comfort...
Do fanny packs tend to slide down your body and wind up around your knees? Does your body shape make it difficult to keep trousers in place? Do you find yourself wearing belts tighter than you'd like, just to defy gravity's constant tug? If you respond "Yes!", the No-Slip Hiker's Camera Belt is for you!
These belts are made with a Polypropylene webbing that features TWO stripes of tiny rubber "grip tubes" woven into the inside of the belt. (The outside of the belt looks pretty much the same as the regular black belt.) These strips resist slippage, keeping your Hiker's Camera Belt securely in place. No-Slip Belt Sizes 3 and 4 also feature an elastic expansion section. This elastic makes sure your belt stays "snug" as you walk, while at the same time allowing about 1 inch of “give” for increased comfort when you sit, bend over, or take a deep breath.
To order a "No-Slip" belt, just select the "No-Slip" option in the drop-down color menu in the order form below. (Sorry, "No-Slip" is only available in black.)
Kevlar thread? What's the deal with THAT?!
Kevlar thread in Nylon webbing makes for the strongest belt. But my fashion consultants tell me its pale yellow color is not a dashing fashion statement. If you are looking for the toughest, most durable expedition-quality belt possible, you want my black nylon belt constructed with Kevlar stitching. Kevlar thread is very expensive, and is a bit of a pain to sew with. But it offers incredible strength. It is also a yellow/gold color, which doesn't make for terribly fashionable stitching on black because it highlights even small sewing deviations.
But — if you want the ultimate in durability, and only penguins, moose, or lizards are going to be looking at you anyway, then this is the belt you want. I like the construction on these so much that I offer them for just the additional cost of manufacture. At $9 extra, my wife thinks I don't charge enough for them. Please note: Kevlar thread belts are custom sewn upon order, and may take an extra day or two in production.
Will my Hiker's Camera Belt look exactly as pictured?
Your Hiker's Camera Belt will look pretty much like what you see here — or maybe even a little better. But probably not exactly. Why not?
COLOR VARIATIONS: First, while I've done my best to accurately photograph and render colors on this website, you may "see it differently." Your monitor may display the colors slightly differently. There can be minor color variations between batches of webbing. And since the webbing has a herring bone color pattern, even the viewing angle and lighting affect the exact appearance.
INDIVIDUALLY HAND CRAFTED: Second, each belt is hand-sewn right here in the Rocky Mountains - not in a factory somewhere in Asia. Hand-made means there are minor variations in stitching and attachment positions.
CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT: Third, my goal is to build you the most durable, functional, and attractive belt possible. I continually get new ideas from my customers, testers, and my own experience (I use my Hiker's Camera Belt virtually every day). This feedback leads to small adjustments in stitching patterns and measurements that refine and continually improve the Hiker's Camera Belt.
So your belt may not look in every detail exactly like those shown on this website - but I guarantee it will look at least as good and function at least as well as those shown here. (I didn't cherry-pick belts to photograph. I pulled some from stock and took the pictures you see on this website.)
Unanswered Questions?
If you have a specific question or concern, please use the Contact Me form. I'm happy to answer your query.
If you have a SUGGESTION, I welcome those too! I try to reward the first person who submits an idea I use by sending them the improved gear free. (Legal note: All ideas submitted become the property of Image Ventures of Montana, LLC.) Even if I just make prototypes but then decide NOT to build your idea into the production line, I try to send you a working copy. So please include your prefered size (when applicable) with your suggestion!
Select a Belt Size to get the perfect fit for year-round use.
Hiker's Camera Belts are NOT one-size-fits-all! Unlike other products you have seen, the Hiker's Camera Belt recognizes there are different body sizes and shapes, resulting in different ideal angles and positions for buckles and rings.
Hiker's Camera Belt sizes are expressed in ranges of usable belt length — how far around you they will reach — min to max. This allows you to easily find the size that will work best for you, both summer and winter.
Follow these simple steps to find your size:

- Dress in your light-weight warm-weather hiking clothes.
- Put on your camera or binoculars, and adjust the neck strap to the length you prefer. (If you've tightened the strap way up around your neck to minimize swinging, now is a good time to make it the length you want it!)
- With the camera strap comfortably around your neck, find the vertical midpoint of your equipment. Measure around your torso at this point (but NOT around your equipment!) This is your smallest size.

- Now put on the heaviest layers of clothing you will want to wear while using your Hiker's Camera Belt.
- Put on your camera or binoculars and adjust the strap. (You will probably find they sit higher on your body because the neck strap has more to go around. You may wish to lengthen it.)
- At the vertical midpoint of your equipment, measure again. This is your largest size.
- Find a length in the chart that best fits your measurement range.
- If you are near the top-end of a range, consider ordering the next larger size to allow for additional clothing.
| Size | Belt Length (Min*-Max) |
Strap Gap ** | Likely fit for |
| 1 | 20” - 28” (50cm-70cm) |
8” | Children, small adults |
| 2 | 28” - 38” (65cm–95cm) |
9” | Thin adults |
| 3 | 34” - 46” (85cm-115cm) |
11” | Average adults |
| 4 | 42” - 60” (105cm–150cm) |
12” | Arctic Explorers; Those preferring XL sizes. |
Notes:
* Minimum size: all belts can be adjusted significantly smaller (down to about 24”). I offer multiple sizes so you don't have a long “tail” of extra belt, and to assure the best spacing of the tie-down straps for load stability and personal comfort.
** Strap Gap – the space between the clips holding the tie-down strap that secures your camera or binoculars to the Belt. These gaps have been designed to provide the most comfortable, secure “hold down” distance and angle. The ideal distance increases with your body circumference.
Sizing Information for gift purchases
- When in doubt - order one size larger belt. The wearer can easily adjust the belt shorter than the shortest length shown in the table, there is just a bit more “tail” to tuck in.
- If you give a size that won't work, they are welcome to exchange the unused belt for a different size within 30 days. (They pay shipping to return the belt, I'll pay shipping to send the replacement belt. To make an exchange, they need only return the belt and the tie-down strap, not any extras you ordered.)

Shipping Charges: Shipping charges are based on your order and are viewable in the cart. During my introductory period, orders that include a Hiker's Camera Belt ship FREE to U.S. addresses.
I've tried to set shipping and handling costs to cover my costs, not make a profit. If the charges shown seem too high, please contact me. Tell me know what you wish to order, and I'll respond with verified shipping charges.
Delivery times: I ship each order via USPS Priority Mail within three business days of receipt. (I do my best to ship within 24 hours, but sometimes travel or shooting can delay me by a day or two.) The USPS estimates a delivery time of 2-3 days to most U.S. locations. You will receive an email when I ship your order.
Cart Errors: I've done extensive work customizing and testing my Shopping Cart. However in the unlikely event an error occurs and you are overcharged, I will refund any extra over $1. Conversely, if the cart makes an error and significantly under-charges you, I will email you and you can decide if you wish to pay the additional amount or cancel your order and get a full refund.
Cart problems: The shopping cart should auto-fill and calculate as you add items to it. Simply click on View Cart links found after each item to see the cart. There is a PayPal link on the Order form when you are ready to pay.

I will ship your order as soon as your remittance has been fully honored by your bank (unfortunately my bank tells me this can take a while). Mail completed form with check or money order to:
