T
You like to walk.
You enjoy taking a camera or binoculars.
But they swing as you walk unless you constantly keep one hand on them.
They come dangerously close to the ground every time you bend over.
Add a telephoto lens and your camera tilts down and swings even more wildly.
Take along a dog on a leash, or trekking poles, and it can become almost comical!
So you either compromise and put your camera or binoculars in your pack, or you give up completely and leave them at home.
Either way you miss many great shots and views! I know I did.
And that's why I developed the
Hiker's Camera Belt, and why I use it every time I go "photo-hiking".
The Hiker's Camera Belt is available in four sizes and five colors. Mix or match for the look you want, while getting the instant access, security, and comfort you need while hiking. The Hiker's Camera Belt is ideal for
- Hikers
- Nature photographers
- Wildlife photographers
- Bird Watchers
- Every serious walker who carries a camera or binoculars!
Benefits of the Hiker's Camera Belt
-
Comfortably holds your camera securely against your torso, allowing active walking and hiking free of swinging gear. Release your camera in an instant!
-
Leaves your hands free! Use trekking poles, pick flowers, pet the dog, or just swing your arms - without worrying about your camera or binoculars.
-
Using an HCB means you are ready when great shots pop up.Makes sure you never miss another great shot because your camera was in your backpack.
-
Assures you never overlook another rare bird because your binoculars were in the case.
-
Goes on with a single buckle click. Stays adjusted between uses, yet is easy to adjust if your clothing changes. (Why hassle with a harness when a belt is quicker, easier, and more comfortable?)
- Nothing attaches to your camera or binoculars, so you can share them easily and instantly with your walking companion. And since your tripod mounting hole remains available, you can leave your quick-release plate attached for tripod use.
-
Works with a wide range of equipment: Pro and Pro-sumer digital cameras (even with long lenses and battery grips), "Point and Shoot" cameras, Binoculars, Night Vision glasses. About anything you carry with a neck strap!
-
FREE SHIPPING Introductory special - for orders to U.S. addresses placed during my product introduction, I am paying all shipping charges on any order that includes a Hiker's Camera Belt!
- 90 Day money-back satisfaction guarantee. Full one year defects warranty.
Belt Construction Details
-
The two-inch waist strap is comfortable. It's both wide and flexible, so it won't fold over or bunch up and dig into your sides.
-
My unique "Shock Absorber" tie-down strap holds your camera securely — WITHOUT "jamming" it into you. You get true freedom of movement!
This simple yet innovative feature keeps the tie-down strap tight enough to always hold your gear in place. Yet it allows enough "give" that when you bend and twist, your gear doesn't jab into your stomach, but gently pushes away. When you straighten, the elastic returns it to its original position.
-
In use, the main belt always stays fastened — you simply release one end of the tie-down strap to instantly free your camera or binoculars. Since all parts remain attached, both your hands are free to use your camera or binoculars, with no fear of lost parts.
-
Fully Reversible — great news for both lefties and righties! Put the belt on either direction, with buckle right or left; release the tie-down strap from either end. Works both “left” or “right” without modification or additional adjustments so you can switch users at any time!
-
Belt buckle rides at your SIDE for comfort, convenience and easy adjustment. Works with all day-packs and most fanny packs — even backpack waist belts.
-
Fully adjustable, generous tie-down strap handles practically any size and shape gear. (Got a piece of gear the belt doesn't hold well? Contact me - I'm happy to discuss making one that does — at no charge.)
-
All buckles and glides are made from top-quality plastics. They won't break easily, they won't freeze your fingers in winter, and they won't sizzle your skin in summer. (Buckles are rated from -40F to 270F - so you're good to go with either global warming or a second ice age!)
Each stainless steel ring is firmly sewn to the Hiker's Camera Belt. Two sturdy rings let you attach a carabiner or other gear. They are perfect for hanging a water bottle or attaching a small tripod case. These rings are sewn firmly on both the left and right sides of the belt for maximum convenience. And since they are made from stainless steel they won't tarnish, won't rust, and won't discolor your other gear. And they sure as heck won't bend!
-
All sewing is done on commercial machines using high-quality nylon thread. (A Kevlar thread-stitched version is available for those seeking the absolute strongest belt known to mankind.) All major joints are box- and cross-stitched to assure years of trouble-free service.
-
Comes in four waist sizes so you aren't dragging a 3' tail of extra belt, and so your camera or binoculars are held as securely as possible based upon your body geometry.
-
The Hiker's Camera Belt makes hiking with your camera or binoculars at-the-ready fun and easy! (And it comes in 5 colors, so you can look cool, too!)
- Designed, tested, and built in the USA by small businesses who somehow manage to stay in business and serve our customers without a government handout.
Cautions and Disclaimers
I think the Hiker's Camera Belt is great - and I believe you will too. But there are a few things to know about any piece of gear that you wish you'd known BEFORE you bought it. Rather than leave you unhappy, I'd rather tell you here and now what NOT to expect from the Hiker's Camera Belt.
HCB is NOT intended for use as a safety or climbing belt. -
The Hiker's Camera Belt is NOT climbing gear! It's sturdy, but it is NOT engineered or tested to hold your weight, or to be used as a safety device, harness, or support. Sure, take it on your climbs to hold your camera, but do NOT use it as part of your climbing or safety rig!
-
The Hiker's Camera Belt can push your buttons. No, I don't mean it will tease you about obsessive lens polishing. The HCB's tie down strap fits over your camera in different ways depending upon how you attach your camera's neck strap, and how you choose to route the Hiker's Camera Belt tie-down. Also, the back of your camera is being held firmly against your torso. So if you leave your camera switched ON when you secure it, some of the buttons on your camera may be pressed, changing settings.
-
The Hiker's Camera Belt will not transfer significant weight off your neck strap. The Hiker's Camera Belt is not a harness — it's a quick-release restraining strap. (Some testers report that their camera feels lighter, but I suspect this is because the camera is no longer swinging around their neck like a tether ball.)
-
The Hiker's Camera Belt will hold your gear - your pup's behavior remains your problem...The Hiker's Camera Belt will not train your dog to behave — if you attach his leash to your Hiker's Camera Belt and pup takes off chasing a deer, or if he does his famous "human calf-roping" trick, running madly around every leg in sight, then you may wind up yanked off your feet or lashed tightly to the legs of another hiker. Even a small dog could give your back a potentially damaging jerk. And if the leash got snagged by a passing vehicle you could be dragged and killed. For these reasons I do NOT recommend tethering animals via the belt unless you are certain their behavior and your environment will NEVER put you at risk.
Please remember: You assume ALL risk and liability for your use of the Hiker's Camera Belt - this includes anything you choose to attach to it!
-
The Hiker's Camera Belt is designed so only soft, durable straps touch your camera or binoculars. However your favorite “Texas Ranger” belt buckle (you know, the one with the raised steer horns and crossed silver spurs?) can scratch the back of your camera if you hang your camera directly over it. (I learned this the hard way.) The solution? It's easy to adjust the Hiker's Camera Belt to hold your camera just left or right of your belt buckle, or buckle your trouser belt one loop left or right of center. (A slideshow illustrating this solution is available here.)
-
When used properly, the Hiker's Camera Belt can help hold your gear in place, but the outdoor world is full of surprises. Exposed cameras, binoculars, and other equipment are always subject to increased risk of damage or loss. Please read and understand our disclaimer before purchasing - you assume all responsibility and liability during use of this equipment. Please see my Satisfaction Guarantee, Limited Warranty, and Disclaimer of Liability.
